South Boulder Interior Designer
Kate Hartman, the Owner and Lead Designer, grew up in the great state of Alabama and moved to Boulder, Colorado in 2021 with her husband and son. Kate, who has a background in engineering, saw that she could combine that with her love for lavish, modern interior design. These ideas, together, create a space that welcomes all. She brings process and order to creativity. From completely designing her own house to running a decorating and furnishings store (Chickadee) and holding additional interior design partnerships ( Chickadee Interiors and Hartman Neely Interiors), Kate Hartman has refined her knowledge with Kate Hartman Interiors.
Design Associate, Molly Gause joined Kate Hartman in 2018 with Chickadee Interiors. Her abundant creativity and immaculate sense of style shine through with Kate Hartman Interiors. Molly’s charming nature and eye for detail bring a touch like no other to every project.

The Kate Hartman Interior Style
It doesn’t matter if your project is a renovation, new construction or just a furnishings project, Kate Hartman Interiors works to get to know every client and their individual style. You could say we have a well rounded mix of modern and vintage designs to choose from. We will also assist in setting a style if a client isn’t sure of the exact style they would like. We also pride ourselves in working with our clients to consider their heirloom accessories or sentimental pieces. This helps not only to elevate the design but it stays true to the clients’ unique style and creates the welcoming environment they desire.
Elevating Interior Design In South Boulder
Kate Hartman Interiors sets the expectations at the beginning of the process. Clients will know what to expect at all times, this means being immediately notified of any issues and solutions. Our budget-first state of mind and clear process sets us apart from other North Boulder interior designers. There are no two projects that are the same, therefore with all of our clients we outline what we do, how we do it, and how we will work with you from start to finish. Our terms and conditions are transparent and we go the extra mile to make sure everyone has an understanding before moving forward with budgeting and planning.
Budgeting Expectations
At the beginning, we complete an interior design plan at the beginning that includes fixtures and finishes, colors, and extras such as any accessories. Making these decisions early in the process allows for budget adjustments to meet the client’s budget expectations. We do not want our clients to get their heart set on one thing they cannot have or disregard something they really wanted when we could have made it happen. Our detailed planning process consists of three key budgeting aspects.
- Fixture and Finish Allowances
- Detailed Elevations Budget
- Furnishings Budget
Every detail plays an important role and we follow a clear and concise process for developing budgets before moving forward to the next step of the process. There are no corners cut at Kate Hartman Interiors.
Interior Design Fees
Kate Hartman Interiors includes a consultation fee for the initial consultation, budgeting, and follow-up meeting. This is because so much time goes into completing a consultation: the design is visualized, items are selected, the itemized budget is created, keeping up with consistent communication, plus more. Once we shift to the design phase, clients pay an hourly rate for our services (the time it takes to do the design and facilitate all the pieces from start to finish) in addition to paying for furnishings. We will also tell you how many hours we predict will be needed to complete the design selections for each space. Giving this number upfront helps our clients plan their budget.
How To Choose A South Boulder Interior Designer
There are no two South Boulder designers that are alike, everyone has their own unique approach. When you go on the journey of choosing an interior design firm, there are a few things to keep on the forefront of your mind.
First- check out past projects they have worked on. Decide if their style aligns with yours or the style that you are interested in.
View the Kate Hartman Interiors Portfolio. We’ve worked to help clients fulfill their dreams and we’ve done a range of projects that include anything from pool houses to commercial office spaces.
Second- decide what your budget will be. We clearly set budget expectations in the beginning and understand if our budget doesn’t fit your needs. It’s important to find an interior designer who will also give you what you want in your price range.
Third- once you have gone through these steps and you are ready to hire an interior designer, connect with them early because you will most likely be placed on a waitlist. This depends on how many projects an interior design firm is currently working on. During your waiting time, some planning might take place but finalization will not happen for another few months.
